Citizen Kane was one of my least favorite movies. A majority of it confused me and I didn't understand the ending. I guess it's because I wanted it to be more. Other than that it was ok. I just don't like things that I don't understand. It frustrates me especially when other people do understand it then I feel like I'm just don't have as much common sense. I don't know maybe you guys will understand it and totally disagree with what I said.
The Story
Charles Foster Kane(Orson Wells) is given away by his mother, the real reason isn't known but it might be because his father was an agressive person. He was then raised by a man named Walter Parks Tatcher(George Coulouris). This man wanted Kane to do whatever he wanted and he didn't care what Kane wanted to do. Charles doesn't care about this and he just does whatever he wants. So he buys this old run down news paper called the Inquirer. After he got the news paper running he went on a trip and met the presidents neice Emily Norton(Ruth Warrick). They soon married and had a son, but the marrage didn't last because the news paper was Kanes life and he didn't spend any time with his family. This drove him into the arms of another woman, Susan Alexander (Dorothy Comingore). His wife found out and they got a divorce, and Kane married Susan. Then Emily and his son ended up dieing in a car crash. He MADE Susan become and opera singer even though she hated it. She ended up leaving him because he controlled her and she wasn't alloud to go out and have fun with any of her friends. She had to just stay in this mansion all day and she couldn't stand it. After she left he went mad and distroyed her entire room. After he was finished he muddered one word "Rosebud". Then on his death bed right before he died he muddered this same word. This whole movie is about this reporter finding out what or who rosebud is and in the process we find out the above information about Charles Foster Kanes life. Nobody in the movie actuall finds out what or who rosebud is but in the last shot they show a sled with rosebud written on it being thrown into a fire.
Rating Scale
1 - Terrible
2 - Tolerable
3 - It's ok
4 - Great
5 - I would watch this again
I would rate this movie a two just because I didn't really like it and I wanted rosebud to be something more than a sled. I wanted it to be a person and I wanted to story to be more interesting. It just wasn't what I expected. It just wasn't that interesting to me.
Director
Orson Wells
Genre
Mystery and Art
Quotes
"You know Mr. Bernstein, if I hadn't been very rich, I might have been a really great man." - Kane
" I alway gagged on the silver spoon." - Kane
"Old age. It's the only disease, Mr. Thompson, that you don't look forward to being cured of." - Mr. Bernstein
" I can remember everyting. That's my curse, young man. It's that greatest curse that's ever been inflicted on the human race: memory." Leland
Citizen Kane, in my opinion, could have been a better movie with a few little tweeks, but I'm not a director and I don't have the power to change the movie. Maybe they could have made Rosebud a person and continued the story a little longer to find out why she was so important. I guess I'll just have to wait until I become a director to make movies the way I want.

Gone With The Wind Review
Hello my fellow bloggers this is swimmergirl10 and i'm writing a review about Gone with the Wind. First I'll tell you a little bit about why I'm doing this. Well I'm in a class called film studies, which is basically a class where we watch movies and discuss them. Well, for our assignments we have to either write a blog, do a podcast, do a vodcast, or just discuss the movie with our class. For this movie we have to do a blog.
my rating scale
1-terrible
2-tolerable
3-its ok
4-great
5-i would watch this again
I would rate this movie a three, because I was somewhat interested in what was going on, but it is also a movie that I wouldn't say "lets see that one again" to.
Director - Victor Flemming
Main Characters
Scarlet O'hara - Vivien Leigh
Rhett Butler - Clark Gable
Melanie Wilkes - Olivia de Havilland
Ashley Wilkes - Leslie Howard
Supporting Roles
Mammy - Hattie McDaniel
I believe Mammy was an important supporting actress because she played a mojor role in us finding out information about what was going on with Rhett and Scarlet. She also helped raise Scarlet so in a way she gave Scarlet the personality that we as the audience had to deal with throughout the movie. Then in the end she becomes Rhetts friend and starts to side with him when Scarlet is acting like she is always the victim.
The genre of this film is romace, war, and drama. Romace because Sacarlet thinks she is in love with Ashley Wilkes, but in reality she is in love with Rhett, and he is trying everything to get her to realize this. She doesn't figure this out until it is too late and now Rhett is leaving her and now she'll do anything to get him back. War because in the middle of the film the civil war is going and and everybody is involved in it. Ashley is off fighting, Rhett is avoiding the war, and Melanie and Scarlet are both nurses in a hospital caring for the victims of the war. Finally drama because Scarlet is a huge drama queen. She is very good friend with Melanie Wilkes who is married to Ashley Wilkins, but she is trying to get Ashley to leave Menalie so that they can get married.
The Story
Scarlet hears that Ashley Wilkes is going to marry his cousin Melanie Hamilton and this upsets her. Then there's a party at the Wilkins plantation where Scarlet tries to make Ashley jealous by getting all the men at the party to attend to her needs. This doesn't work so she decides to marry Melanies brother Charles Hamelton to make Ashley jealous. Which didn't work. Then Charles and all the other males go off to war, where Charles ends up dieing, and Scarlet has to morn, but she doesn't want to. Then the war happens and there's this huge tax on Tara (their plantation) and to save it she marries Frank Kennedy who her younger sister is in love with. Frank then ends up dieing because Scarlet got attacked in the woods and they were trying to kill the men who did it. During this whole time Scarlet is still trying to get Ashley to love her. Then Scarlet marries Rhett Butler and they have a daughter and he gives her everything she ever wanted but she still loves Ashley. It isn't until her daughter and her best friend Melanie die that she realizes that she really loves Rhett, but by that time it is too late and he leaves her.
Great Quotes
"As god as my witness I will never go hungry again." - Scarlet O'Hara
"Frankly my dear I don't give a damn!" - Rhett Butler
"I'll go back to Tara and find a way to get him back." - Scarlet O'Hara
"Ya'll are acting like a bunch of white trash!" - Mammy
"I only know that I love you." Scarlet
"Well that's your misfortune." Rhett
I think that Scarlet should just get over herself and realize what's right in front of her face, the person she really loves, Rhett. But, I guess if she realized this in the begining there wouldn't be a movie for us to watch.
Until Next Time
